Our way north begins, towards the Dalton high region and the esteemed Dalton Winery, the first winery of our tour. Dalton Winery is situated in the height of the Galilee in the Dalton Industrial park, in the midst of a green mountainous area, about 4 kilometers from the Lebanese border. The winery was founded in 1995, as a partnership between Armand Maman – an experienced and respected farmer from Moshav Ben Zimra, and between Mati Harouni – a British businessman, after Armand decided to make wine from his quality vines and offered that Harouni join him in the project. The winery was first located in Armand's parent's home yard and in 1999 was relocated to its recent location. We shall taste from the winery's wines and of course leave time for buying wines in the visitor's center.
Our tour will continue to a winery which in recent years has taken a place of honor in the Israeli wine scene – the Galilee Mountains Winery. The winery lies near kibbutz Yiron, an area where grapes have been growing since early times. The variety of growing locations, topographic conditions and climate conditions, serve as a perfect habitat for growing quality grapes for high end wine – the Galilee Mountains Winery wine. Way back in the nineties the owners of the winery – the Golan Heights Winery and kibbutz Yiron - identified the potential hidden in the soil and started planting wine grapes. The first vineyards were planted in 1996 on lands belonging to the kibbutzim Malkia and Yiftach and the modern winery building was erected in 2002 in the midst of the beautiful Galilee surroundings.
The winery's impressive housing combines metal elements, expressing the advanced technology, with classic wooden elements expressing the roots, heat and aromas of the world of wine. We shall visit the fantastic production hall and experience what no doubt is one of the most modern and beautiful wineries in Israel. We shall of course taste some of the winery's best wines, before buying wines in the visitor's center store. After the winery visit we shall depart for a delightful tour between Galilee sceneries to lay eyes on the vineyards from which the Galilee Mountains Winery crafts its decorated wines.
Loaded with quality wines and quite tired, we shall make our way to the Nechalim restaurant, situated on the way from the town of Qiryat Shmona to the beautiful Tal Grove, in an especially lovely and romantic spot. 'Nechalim' is an adorable and quality driven Bistro overlooking the meeting point of the Hatzbani, Banias and Dan streams. In the Nechalim restaurant we shall continue our wine experience, accompanied by quality chef's dishes, following the Grape Man's tradition.
