In 1848 with the revival of Jewish settlement in Jerusalem, Itzhak Galina-Shor founded the first Jewish winery of the new era, besides the Wailing Wall in the old city. The wines were of fine quality and were sold from door to door, but the family was later forced by the Turkish authorities to close the winery, and it was thus relocated to a new site out of the old city walls. For eight generations the family continued to produce wines in different locations and today the winery combines decades of knowhow and experience with modern wine production. Family member Zvi (Zvika) Shor and David (Dudi) Korez are the winemakers. Grapes are harvested from the winery's vineyards in Judea and Samaria.
